TBN: Unsung Heroes Edition- The Berry Lip Gloss
I can't believe I've never written about my top lip product of all time: the simple, but brilliant, berry lip gloss. I have normal lips -neither full, nor thin- however, they have no pigment. They are nearly the same colour as my skin, so they don't show unless I apply some kind of lip product.
For me, it all started with Clinique's Superbalm in the colour Currant. My absolute holy grail lip product, this was a supreme lip treatment that made my lips look bigger and healed all dryness. The plum/berry hue suited any makeup look. For an entire decade, I had a tube in every handbag. While it's still available in other countries, alas, in Greece it got discontinued long ago. Ever since that cursed day, I have been looking for a replacement with varying degrees of success. Below are my suggestions for you to try; when you find THE ONE, there's no turning back. I've never met anyone who doesn't get hooked on this type of product. Here are my top suggestions on where to start your search.
1. Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Gloss in the colour Berry Provocative (photo of me wearing it, below)
This is my current favourite. It might seem pink on the photo but it is not, it's just that my lips have almost zero natural colour. Very close to Clinique's Currant, it tints, plumps and hydrates although without the healing properties. Which brings me to my second choice below:
2. Clinique Pop Splash in the colour Vino Pop. This heals, hydrates, tints but does not plump. It's a wonderful product, though; my cracked lips can get red-lipstick ready in a few hours by using this.
3. Victoria Beckham Beauty Bitten Lip Tint. Ah, this is currently on top of my wishlist. While more expensive, it is a truly unique formula that heals, tints lips in the most flattering, natural berry shade but is also semi-matte, my absolute holy grail finish. But it's not yet available from a european retailer and I refuse to pay customs for beauty products by principle, considering the ocean of products available on this side of the pond. The minute it reaches the EU, I am buying this. For now, it is available to buy here
Crushed Oil Infused Gloss by Bobbi Brown in the colour After Party. The colour is within the berry spectrum, but slightly brighter on my lips. The aunique thing about this formula is it doesn't stick on the lips, a marvel of science in my books.
