TBN: Unsung Heroes Edition- Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Review

It would be an understatement to say that I am a beauty enthusiast and an amateur, albeit very keen, researcher. I LOOOOOVE to look into beauty products. However, I keep my personal routine as brief and edited as possible. Whatever I use needs to be absolutely necessary, I just don't have the time for extras. That said, I am puzzled by the fact that most consider the lip liner an unnessessary step in their makeup routine. If you want a great lip look that will last until your lunch break, you have to put in those extra 30 seconds of lining your lips.

Let me be clear, I'm not talking about just any lip liner. Not all are created equal. I've found one that not only keeps my lipstick steady for hours and prevents bleeding into my lip wrinkles (any ol' lip liner will do that for you) but also makes my lips look bigger thanks to its supreme creaminess and sumptuous texture. Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat (as she calls her lip liners) is second to none.

My own personal favourite shades are Pillow Talk (a pink-ish dusty rose), Love Trap (a sweet, browner nude) and Supersize Me (a berry/brown colour). They are available to buy here

Although I have found some relatively close alternatives that are much more affordable, I still opt for the Tilbury liners 95% of the time. The affordable dupes are L’Oréal Infallible, Essence Stay True and H&M lip liners.

Below is an example of wearing Charlotte Tilbury's lipstick (shade: In Love With Olivia, available to buy here). The first picture is me wearing nothing at all on my lips. No, I don't put foundation on my lips to cancel them out, that is actually my natural, non-existent lip colour. The second is with the lipstick alone and the third is with lipstick plus liner.

In the last photo, one might argue that the face looks older and less fresh than the second photo. That is a sacrifice I'm willing to make because with the lip liner, this lip look will last until lunch break, in contrast to lipstick alone, which lasts much less. Also, the liner maximizes and plumps my lips. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, it sharpens my features and gives much more precise proportions to the face.

Below, is the same pattern, this time with Tilbury's Very Victoria matte lipstick (available to buy here). Although it is a much steadier formula than her satin version above, the lips still benefit greatly from adding lip liner. Again, a sharper, cleaner look when you use the liner. Without it, this lipstick lasts about 3 hours on me. When it's lined, I will only need to refresh AFTER lunch. So easily six hours.

The only exception I'd make with liner is in the high heat of summer (it looks too much, a little tacky) and when you're wearing lip gloss (again tacky, as it's too visible). Otherwise, if it's any indication, I keep a Lip Cheat literally in every purse. They are available to buy here
