TBN: Undupeable Products Edition- Irreplicable Luxury Products Truly Worth Their Price
Friends, I apologize beforehand, today's list isn't cheap. It's my completely undupeable and irreplaceable high-end products for which, alas, there is no affordable equivalent. Some I repurchase, while some cannot be justified in my monthly budget. I can, however, vouch for their efficacy and unique properties; these products give you visible results.
I know the feeling of wanting premium beauty products and not being able to afford them all- if at all. This month I had budgeted for an expensive advent calendar. The piping in my house begged to differ, however, so what started as a suspicious leak escalated to a full-blown mess. Which means that my next Christmas calendar will probably be around 2024. Oh well. As long as everyone's healthy and all that.
My point is this: I am not advocating forking out a fortune for beauty products. There are great products around that won't break the bank. You don't NEED expensive products. You might want them, however, and if you feel like pampering yourself with something that performs amazingly, this is my definitive all-star list:
Sunday Riley A+ Serum
This is the best serum I've ever used, full stop. I tested it extensively, you can find the full review here. This is a very potent retinol formula, expertly formulated to spare you the downside of retinol: no irritation or peeling with this one. Just mega-glowy, fresh, healthy, taut skin. I adore it. I've repurchased it, needless to say. To attempt similar results with cheaper products, you would need multiple different serums: one for retinol, another for hydration, exfoliation, nourishment etc. And even then, it won't come close. It is available to buy here
DCL Hydra Boost
This is superb and soothing hydration in a bottle. I can't think of anything else that gives you the skin you wish you had, in terms of suppleness and moisture. No stickiness, it's like you actually infuse hudration into the skin. The benefits of this serum last all day long, my makeup looks great over it. It's painfully expensive, but if you can afford it, get it now. It available to buy here
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist
This is the most frivolous product in my list. No one ever needs to buy a hydrating mist, but, boy, are they a delight to use. In terms of efficacy, nothing will ever top Avène's Thermal Water. This one, at 6 times the price of course, also soothes and conditions your skin but with a scent that HUGS YOUR SOUL LIKE A WARM BLANKET. Still not enough for me to buy at full price, ever, but if you're looking for something to comfort you before sleeping at night you will enjoy it. It is available to buy here
Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm
This is a legend for good reason. It perfectly cleanses the skin while taking care of it at the same time. A clean, supple, soothed and nourished face is what I get when I use it. The scent, a big part of the Moringa experience, is what heaven must smell like. It is available to buy here
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream
This cream is either adored or loathed. I firmly belong in the first category. I think it's the best thing since sliced bread. Some people find it too heavy and suggest it's for people with dry skin. Not so. I have combination skin and it's sublime on me. When I wear this, my face looks better and my makeup looks MUCH better. I just look better darn it. Charlotte Tilbury probably has fairies making this in a faraway land somewhere with huge customs taxes. Which might explain the ridonculus price. If budget allows, get thyself a pot. You deserve it. It is available to buy here
Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask
Since my acne days, I've been using clay masks regularly. They suit my skin and cleanse more deeply without stripping the natural barrier too much. This mask by Charlotte Tilbury is the best; even better than the clay-mask pioneer by Lancaster. Do not leave this on for more than 15 minutes, though- make sure you're keeping track of time. I wouldn't use it more than once a week, it's very potent. It's also relatively expensive, yes, but it lasts for months. It is available to buy here
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution
This is more affordable luxury but made the list because it's absolutely undupeable. This is the best matte formula, no doubt about it. Tilbury excels in nudes and berries (there are dozens of superb shades). Her reds (whether bright or deep) are not as smooth. They are available to buy here
Fresh Rose Mask
Let me put it this way: if you don't do much to your face, suffer from dry skin and can't be bothered to put 5 serums a day, this is your best friend. It's the mildest, most beautiful hydrator you'll find. You can use it every day and, while it is more expensive, the amount you need is very little indeed. I also use it as an overnight mask. Maybe buy the small pot to start so you don't invest straight away? It it available to buy here
Goldfaden MD Vital Boost Moisturiser
I adore Tilbury's moisturiser because of how my makeup looks. But I adore this one equally for how it makes my face feel. This is a satisfying cream that I liked straight away. But, as the days went by, I noticed a difference in my skin. So much clearer, so much plumper. My sun spots fading?? Really? I hadn't actually read what this product is all about, I thought it's just a moisturiser. In fact, it's packed full of vitamins to nourish your skin, to the point where it feels like a great moisturiser but it performs as a treatment. If you're not a makeup fanatic like me and just care about the skincare aspect, I would definitely place this as my top cream. Even above the Tilbury Magic cream and my beloved Sevenea's cream with the SPF 50. What a beautiful formula. It is available to buy here
Zelens Transformer mask
Also for those who can't be bothered to multi-step their beauty routine: if you get a cheap acid peel and follow with this, it's all you need for a beautiful weekly ritual to, very effectively, renew your skin. It's vibrant, juicy skin in a pot, this one. A little goes a long way, you get many treatments out of the 50ml pot. It is available to buy here
To round this theme up, which brand would I recommend in the premium luxury category? Having tried several extensively, it's not the one you'd think. Not La Mer, nor La Prairie, not Guerlain. The only brand I've found to be truly extraordinary is Sisley. When I still suffered from hormonal acne, after my having my son, I used their products exclusively for months. It was a transformative experience.
