TBN: Tilbury Dupes Edition- Affordable Matte Lipstick
(**EDIT: This is the same post as two months ago, it has been uploaded anew due to technical problems with its URL.)
I'd been searching high and low for a more affordable option to Charlotte Tilbury's Matte Revolution. Tilburys are the best formula I've found: truly matte, hydrating, long lasting with spot-on colours. They never bleed, never fade badly. At 30 euros a pop, however, they are an expensive sport, if you play it exclusively. Two years, it took me. TWO years and trying all the drugstore formulas I could get my hands on (it wound up costing me several Tilbury lipsticks, which bugs the h*ll out of me, but anyway). But, at last, I found them.
They are the Ultimate Matt lipsticks from Catrice and specifically numbers 010 (a universally flattering, nude hybrid between Tilbury's Pillow Talk and Very Victoria, as seen in photo below) and 090 (a berry-hued cross between Bond Girl and Walk of Shame). They are an 85-90% match to their expensive counterparts. A true matte application with creamy, superb colour. They last many hours and don't dry out your lips. They cost 4 euros. The only drawback, solved by stocking up with backups, is the hassle of battling fervent 16-year-olds at the Catrice stands. This is a brand that especially appeals to the very young as its offerings are low-priced and of good quality. Just one point to keep in mind. In contrast to Tilbury's lipsticks, these don't look very chic with a lip liner, even the Pillow Talk Lip Cheat, the easiest formula around. I can't for the life of me, figure out why. With a liner, they're more TOWIE than Tilbury. That's no problem, however; they never bleed and they plump your lips anyway. Highly -highly- recommended.
