TBN: Easy Makeup Edition- By Terry Ombre Blackstar Review
Something's happened to me. I've been transformed, sisters. Or, rather, converted: to easy makeup looks. I have always enjoyed the pomp and circumstance of laying out all my palettes in the morning and deciding what I feel like putting on that day while sipping on my coffee and chatting to my son about the latest school shenanigans. But in the past two weeks, whether it's for work, a lunch date or weekend outing, I only create one specific look. With only one eyeshadow and that's it! Unheard of, sisters, but true.
I can't get enough of it. It looks perfect for accentuating my eyes, it shades and contours, it gives you a few minutes to blend it out like a dream and then stays in place all day long, does not smudge, does not crease, does not fade. It sounds too good to be true but it's actually an eyeshadow pencil, the By Terry Ombre Blackstar (the name makes no sense, I know, let it go) in the shade Bronze Moon. I promptly got rid of all my other eyeshadow pencils. I can't go back to mediocrity now.
I really did not expect to like this as much. Correction, I don't like this, I ADORE it. It performs like a premium beauty product should. If I am to judge it by its performance and formula, this is one of those rare unicorns that's worth every cent. I had planned to buy another shade for a long time, called Misty Rock, but it was always sold out. This one came in the Cultbeauty 2020 advent calendar and I thought it was a good idea to try it out as a formula before buying the Misty Rock (a legendary shade among makeup artists)
It was perfect from the very first time I used it. I smudged it freely on top of my lashes and used a firm shading brush to smudge it and blend it outward and into the entire crease. I then used what was left to shade under my lower lashes. That's exactly how I've been using it since . When I want some extra oomph, I add some black liner and mascara for definition, like below. In the inner corners, I highlight with a Kevyn Aucoin white shade. In the photos, you can see the angles of how I shade, if you want to replicate the look. My eyes take no more than 3 minutes, all steps included. I am not precise at all with application, for some reason, this colour works even if you do a sloppy job.
You may have noticed, if you've been following me, that I don't upload nearly as often as I did during pre-Covid times. Few beauty-related issues are worth writing about now that we have bigger things to deal with. I choose only what's really worth reporting on and the By Terry Ombre Blackstar is certainly that. It is available to buy here
