TBN: Cult Products Edition- It Cosmetics CC Cream Review
Few foundations have achieved such cult status as this one. IT Cosmetics has only been around for a few years, but this specific product is on par with Estée Lauder's Double Wear, or MAC's Face and Body; it's a foundation must-try.
Let me start from the basics: this is the original formula, that leaves a satin finish. Since this one, IT Cosmetics has also released a luminous and a matte version (for my review of the luminous version, please read here: https://bit.ly/2SVABaZ). This trifecta of CC creams is meant to cover all skin types and needs, although I find the name a bit misleading: they are a proper, full-on foundation.
This is what the company says about the product:
'Developed with plastic surgeons, Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ is your #1 best-selling,* award-winning color correcting cream that delivers 7 products in one, including your full-coverage foundation, hydrating anti-aging serum and SPF 50+ physical sunscreen. Your multitasking beauty miracle provides clinically tested hydration while diffusing the appearance of skin imperfections for flawless-looking coverage that won’t crease or crack.
Infused with hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, niacin, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and vitamins, this skin-loving full-coverage foundation diffuses the look of wrinkles, minimizes the appearance of pores and gives you a luminous, supple, flawless-looking complexion. It’s truly your must-have for instant complexion perfection!'
This is what I have experienced with this product after many days of use:
It gives you medium to full coverage. It applies very easily and smoothly, either with fingers or a brush. I spread with my fingers and buff away with my brush. Warning to all: do not over-apply, this is creamy but very spreadable. It's a strictly ONE PUMP application. The finish is fresh and dewy, so combination or oily skins might prefer the matte version. Sometimes I don't set it with powder and it lasts well throughout the day with one, good blot around the mid-day mark. But when I do set it with powder, it gives me flawless skin. I've written about this before, but one of my favourite powders ever, is also by IT Cosmetics, the Bye Bye Pores Powder, available here: https://bit.ly/2TP4LwD. In the photo below, I am wearing both the CC Cream and the powder.
The SPF is completely undetectable in the formula. All in all, it's not my favourite finish in a foundation: my two all-time favourites across all pricepoints are the L'Oréal Tru Match and Infaillible 24h Freshwear, they are like luscious silk on my skin. But it is very good. I will continue to buy it, and prefer it over my favourites, especially now that the day is getting longer. The reason is very simple: it keeps my skin super-protected from UV light. I have come to understand the crucial importance of suncreen and I've tested this in direct sunlight. I wear this to do my 9k walk. It performs in a stellar manner. My skin returns completely unscathed by the sun and I am currently using high-stregth retinol. I assume the peptides, collagen, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, vitamins all come into play. This is a very sophisticated formula. I cannot attest to its long-term, skincare efficacy but I can say I am delighted with its performance on super-sunny days.
The only drawbacks I can mention is that it transfers a bit more than my two favourites and that it oxidises ever so slightly. Both at very minor degree though. Keeping these in mind, this is absolutely recommended.
