TBN: Wearable Pink Lipstick Edition: Charlotte Tilbury The Pretty Pink Lipstick Duo Review
I don't do pink lipstick. Correction: I didn't do pink lipstick. Nothing turns me off more than looking like a saccharine barbie doll that air kisses when she greets. I was very curious about Charlotte Tilbury's new lip set, though, because, honestly.. it didn't look all that pink. A duo of wearable nudes was what I thought I was ordering, a frequent problem with buying online for Tilbury lipsticks (the colours you see on screen are miles off what you get in real life).
And what do you know? The order arrives and.. they're pink. 'I will loathe these', I thought, when I unwrapped them. 'What a rookie mistake, to blind-buy, AGAIN'.
The minute I tried them on, however, I fell in love. This limited edition set includes a Matte Revolution lipstick in Rose Kiss , a K.I.S.S.I.N.G. lipstick (their satin formula) in Blushing Dream and the most popular lip liner in the world (with good reason), Tilbury's Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk. It is an exclusive offering (the two shades are not sold separately) and is only available to buy here: https://bit.ly/2Q15z3p
I found both to have varying degrees of colour, depending on how many swipes you apply. Below, I'm wearing Rose Kiss with just two swipes on both upper and lower lips. This stays true to colour for at least three hours, then slowly and evenly fades. I like to reapply then because this is, quite seriously, the best colour I've ever seen on my lips. I don't know how, but it makes them look a lot bigger, too.
Below, I'm wearing four swipes. That turns it into a spicier colour. I find this version more difficult to wear, but I like it when I'm wearing colourful clothes, because it pops in the right way.
Below, I am wearing Blushing Dream with just one swipe and no lip liner. I only like this, however, when I've done a smokier eye and need a barely-there lip for daytime.
Finally, this is how Blushing Dream is supposed to be worn: with lip liner and two or more swipes. Perfect every day colour, it works with any colour scheme on your face. Bizarrely, it also lasts very long. This satin formula is deceptively resilient.
I don't recommend blind-buying makeup. This is mostly why I do this sort of post, to show true colour pay-off. But even then, it's just a ballpark because of different skin tones and lip pigmentation. I was very relieved that all three products in this set worked out amazingly for me (well the two new ones at least- the Pillow Talk lip liner was already a holy grail for me). I would recommend it as a luxury Christmas gift too. The price, at £52.00, is just right.
Please Charlotte, make this a regular offering? Pretty pink please?
